Bringing Our Children to Work: Learning Beyond the Classroom
Share
At Richard Taylor Travel, we were delighted to welcome some very special visitors to the office as part of a school curriculum initiative that encourages children to experience the workplace alongside their parents.

The "Bring Our Children to Work" day is designed to give young people a valuable insight into the world of work, helping them develop important life skills while gaining a better understanding of different careers. It's an opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-life experiences and inspire curiosity about the many paths their future could take.
Throughout the day, the children had the chance to see how a busy travel business operates. They learned about customer service, teamwork, communication, organisation, and problem-solving—all essential skills that are valuable in any career. They also discovered how much planning and attention to detail goes into helping customers book holidays, business travel, and unforgettable experiences.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the day was giving our children a glimpse into what we do every day. As parents, we often talk about work, but seeing it firsthand helps children understand the responsibilities, challenges, and rewards that come with our roles. It also gives them a greater appreciation of the importance of teamwork, professionalism, and supporting one another to achieve shared goals.
For us at Richard Taylor Travel, it was a fantastic opportunity to share our passion for the travel industry with the next generation. The children's enthusiasm, thoughtful questions, and eagerness to learn reminded us of the importance of encouraging confidence, curiosity, and ambition from an early age.
We believe experiences like these help build essential employability skills while showing young people that every workplace is made up of people working together to make a difference. Whether they choose a career in travel or another industry, we hope they left with a better understanding of the working world and the confidence to explore their own future aspirations.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the day such a success. We hope the children enjoyed their visit as much as we enjoyed having them with us, and we look forward to welcoming them back again in the future—perhaps one day as colleagues!
