RAF Museum Midlands – Cosford Day Trip
Take to the skies and discover more than a century of aviation history with a fascinating day out at the RAF Museum Midlands in Cosford.
Join Richard Taylor Travel for a memorable visit to one of Britain's leading aviation museums, home to an extraordinary collection of aircraft, historic objects and exhibitions telling the story of the Royal Air Force and the people who have shaped its history.
On arrival, you'll have plenty of free time to explore the museum at your own pace. From pioneering early aircraft and legendary Second World War fighters to Cold War bombers and experimental jets, there is an incredible amount to discover across the museum's extensive collections.
One of the highlights is the National Cold War Exhibition, where you can walk beneath some truly enormous aircraft and see the famous Vulcan, Victor and Valiant together – the RAF's three iconic V-bombers. You'll also discover the story of the Cold War through aircraft, missiles, vehicles, artefacts and displays, including a genuine section of the Berlin Wall.
Step into the Test Flight hangar to see the world's oldest surviving Spitfire, alongside aircraft including the Hurricane, Defiant and Messerschmitt Bf 109. The collection continues through the development of aviation with remarkable experimental aircraft including the TSR-2 and the prototype Eurofighter EAP.
Elsewhere, the War in the Air displays explore the development of military aviation and include the beautifully restored Wellington bomber, Mosquito and fascinating stories from Bomber Command.
There's much more than aircraft to discover, with exhibitions exploring the people behind the RAF, aviation technology, engines and the remarkable stories of those who served. Optional experiences such as flight simulators, virtual reality and the 4D Theatre may also be available during your visit for an additional charge.
With cafés where you can stop for refreshments and a museum shop offering aviation-themed gifts and souvenirs, you'll have everything you need for an enjoyable day.
Whether you're an aviation enthusiast, interested in military and social history, fascinated by engineering or simply looking for somewhere different to explore, the RAF Museum Midlands makes for a fascinating day out.
