Autumn Day Trips 2026 | Richard Taylor Travel

Autumn Adventures by Coach – September & October 2026 Day Trips

As summer begins to draw to a close and the first signs of autumn appear, September and October are two of our favourite months for getting out and exploring.

The days are still pleasant, the busiest summer crowds begin to ease and there is a wonderful variety of places to visit – from traditional seaside towns and historic cities to seasonal events, family Halloween adventures and even the first opportunity to start your Christmas shopping.

At Richard Taylor Travel, we have a fantastic selection of coach day trips planned throughout September and October 2026, with convenient local pick-ups across Hertfordshire.

Best of all, we'll take care of the driving. Simply choose your destination, take your seat and enjoy the journey.

September Day Trips – Make the Most of Late Summer

September gives us one last opportunity to enjoy some of Britain's favourite coastal destinations alongside fascinating cities and attractions.

Cromer or Sheringham – Tuesday 1st September

We begin September with a choice of two wonderful destinations on the beautiful North Norfolk coast.

Choose Cromer, famous for its traditional pier, seafront and independent shops, or spend the day in Sheringham, with its traditional seaside atmosphere, beach, cafés and bustling town centre.

Whichever you choose, it's a lovely way to enjoy one more day beside the sea as summer begins to turn to autumn.

Ware Canal Cruise & Fish 'n' Chips – Thursday 3rd September

Our Ware Canal Cruise & Fish 'n' Chips trip has proved incredibly popular and is now sold out.

It's always fantastic to see one of our days out receive such a great response, and we'll continue looking for more experiences like this for future programmes.

London – Borough Market or Covent Garden – Saturday 5th September

Fancy a day in London without having to worry about driving, trains or parking?

On Saturday 5th September we're offering a choice of two fantastic London destinations.

Food lovers can head for Borough Market, with its incredible selection of food, produce and flavours from around the world.

Alternatively, choose Covent Garden and spend the day exploring its famous piazza, shops, market stalls, cafés, restaurants and street entertainment.

With the travel taken care of, you're free to enjoy London at your own pace.

York – Wednesday 9th September

Few cities make a better day out than York.

Walk through centuries of history, explore the famous Shambles, admire magnificent York Minster, browse the city's shops or simply find a cosy café and watch the world go by.

There's so much packed into York's historic centre that everyone can create their own perfect day.

Oxford – Wednesday 16th September

Fans of Inspector Morse, Lewis and Endeavour won't want to miss our September visit to Oxford.

You can join our special immersive tour exploring locations associated with the famous television detectives, or choose our coach-only option and enjoy Oxford independently.

With its historic university buildings, beautiful architecture, museums, shops and cafés, Oxford is equally enjoyable whether you're a Morse fan or simply fancy a day exploring the city.

Hunstanton – Saturday 19th September

We're heading back to the Norfolk coast for a traditional seaside day in Hunstanton.

Enjoy the promenade, sea views, shops and cafés or simply relax and make the most of a late-summer day beside the sea.

Brighton – Wednesday 23rd September

Another seaside favourite follows with a visit to Brighton.

From the famous Palace Pier and seafront to the quirky shops of The Lanes, Brighton offers plenty to fill a day.

Explore, shop, enjoy lunch overlooking the sea or simply take a stroll along the promenade before relaxing on the coach for the journey home.

October Day Trips – Autumn Events, Halloween & Shopping

As we move into October, our programme takes on a distinctly autumnal feel.

We've got traditional events, city exploring, spectacular illuminations, Halloween fun for the family and even the beginning of our festive shopping trips.

Banbury Canal Festival – Saturday 3rd October

Our October adventures begin at the Banbury Canal Festival.

Celebrating the town's historic waterways, the festival brings the area around the Oxford Canal to life with boats, entertainment, stalls, food and plenty to see throughout the day.

It's something a little different from the traditional coach day out and a lovely way to welcome autumn.

Leicester – Wednesday 7th October

Discover one of England's most historic cities with a day at leisure in Leicester.

Explore the city's fascinating connection with King Richard III, visit Leicester Cathedral, browse the shops or enjoy one of the many cafés and restaurants.

With the day yours to enjoy, you can explore entirely at your own pace.

The Knitting & Stitching Show – Saturday 10th October

Calling all crafters!

We're heading to the Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace, one of the highlights of the year for anyone interested in knitting, sewing, embroidery, textiles and crafts.

Discover inspiration, demonstrations, exhibitors and plenty of opportunities to stock up on supplies – without having to worry about driving into London.

Blackpool Illuminations – Saturday 24th October

One of Britain's great autumn traditions returns with our trip to the Blackpool Illuminations.

Spend time enjoying Blackpool before experiencing the famous promenade transformed by its spectacular annual light displays.

With millions of lights stretching along the seafront, it's a brilliant autumn day out and a great excuse to visit Blackpool outside the traditional summer season.

Halloween Half-Term Fun

October half term means it's time for something a little spookier – and we haven't forgotten our younger travellers!

Halloween at Trentham Gardens – Wednesday 28th October

Join us for a family Halloween adventure at Trentham Gardens.

With beautiful surroundings transformed for the season, it's a great opportunity to get the children out during half term and enjoy a day together without the hassle of a long family drive.

Halloween at Gulliver's Land – Friday 30th October

Our second Halloween adventure takes us to Gulliver's Land in Milton Keynes.

Designed with families in mind, it's a brilliant half-term day out with rides, attractions and plenty of Halloween fun.

Just get everyone onto the coach and we'll take care of getting you there and home again.

Christmas Shopping Starts Here!

Yes, we know it's only October – but for those who like to get organised early, Christmas shopping season is already beginning.

Bicester Village Santa's Shopping Saturday – Saturday 31st October

We round off October with the first of our Santa's Shopping Saturday trips.

Spend the day at Bicester Village, browsing its huge selection of designer boutiques and searching for Christmas presents – or perhaps treating yourself to something too!

Travelling by coach means there's no need to worry about driving, parking or carrying your shopping all the way home on the train.
