Belvoir Castle – A Majestic Day Out in the Vale of Belvoir

Join Richard Taylor Travel for a wonderful day out to Belvoir Castle, one of England’s most impressive historic castles, spectacularly positioned high above the beautiful Vale of Belvoir.

With a history stretching back more than 900 years, Belvoir Castle has occupied this commanding hilltop since shortly after the Norman Conquest. The magnificent castle seen today was largely created during the early 19th century in the Gothic Revival style and remains the ancestral home of the Dukes of Rutland.

Step inside and discover a succession of magnificent State Rooms filled with fine furniture, paintings, decorative details and centuries of family history. Highlights include the elegant Regents Gallery, stretching an impressive 131 feet, the beautiful Elizabeth Saloon, the grand State Dining Room and the Ballroom, with its striking ceiling inspired by Lincoln Cathedral.

Belvoir also has some fascinating royal connections. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert visited in 1841, while more recently the castle’s dramatic interiors have made it a popular filming location, including appearances in The Crown, where Belvoir has been used to represent Windsor Castle.

There is plenty to discover outdoors too. Take time to wander through the historic gardens and enjoy far-reaching views across the surrounding countryside. The estate’s landscape has connections with celebrated landscape designer Capability Brown, whose original 18th-century plans for Belvoir were rediscovered in the castle archives and have helped inspire the restoration of the surrounding landscape.

Depending on the season, the gardens offer everything from spring bulbs and blossom to summer roses and beautiful autumn colour, making Belvoir a rewarding destination at different times of year.

During your visit there will also be opportunities to stop for refreshments and browse for gifts and local produce, allowing you to enjoy the day at a relaxed pace.

What time will I be picked up?

Your exact pick-up time will be confirmed approximately two weeks before departure along with your pick-up point details. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early so the coach can depart on time.

How does seat allocation work?

All seating allocations are subject to availability at the time of booking.
While we do our best to accommodate seating preferences, seat allocations may occasionally need to be adjusted for operational reasons.

For single-seat bookings, seating arrangements may also be altered to help maximise overall seating availability. In the unlikely event of a seat change, we regret that no liability can be accepted.

What is your cancellation policy?

  • No refunds are available for cancellations made within 14 days of departure.
  • Cancellations made more than 14 days before departure may be refunded or transferred to
    another available trip.
  • Event or show tickets may be non-refundable or non-transferable depending on organiser terms.

Is the tour suitable for children?

Can I bring luggage?

Please limit luggage to one medium-sized suitcase per person plusa small bag for items you want onboard with you. Bigger or
