Whitstable or Herne Bay – Coastal Day Trip

Enjoy a wonderful day beside the sea on the beautiful Kent coast, with the choice of spending your day in either Whitstable or Herne Bay. Whether you prefer independent shops, famous seafood and a bustling harbour, or traditional seaside charm, a long promenade and plenty of space to relax, the choice is entirely yours.

Whitstable

Famous for its maritime heritage and oysters, Whitstable is one of Kent’s most distinctive coastal towns. Its charming streets are filled with independent shops, galleries, cafés, pubs and restaurants, making it a lovely destination for a leisurely day of exploring.

Take a stroll towards the working harbour, where you can soak up the atmosphere and perhaps sample some of the fresh seafood for which the town is renowned. Continue along the seafront to discover colourful beach huts, coastal views and Whitstable’s characterful pebble beach.

The town is also ideal for those who simply enjoy wandering at their own pace. Browse the independent shops, stop for coffee or lunch, or find a spot overlooking the sea and watch the world go by. Whitstable has a relaxed yet lively atmosphere that makes it an enduringly popular choice for a coastal escape.

Herne Bay

Alternatively, spend your day in Herne Bay, a classic Kent seaside resort offering a more traditional day beside the sea.

Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the attractive seafront and promenade, with plenty of opportunities to stop for an ice cream, coffee or traditional fish and chips. Herne Bay’s long beach and open coastal views make it perfect for anyone looking for a relaxed day by the water.

Explore the town centre, browse the shops or discover some of the town’s local history. You can also visit Herne Bay’s distinctive pier, an enduring part of the town’s seaside character and a lovely place to enjoy the fresh sea air.

With plenty of cafés and places to eat, Herne Bay is a great choice for those who enjoy the simple pleasures of a traditional British seaside day out.

Two Seaside Destinations – One Great Day Out

The best part is that you decide where you would like to spend your day. Choose Whitstable for its harbour, seafood and independent character, or Herne Bay for its promenade, pier and traditional seaside atmosphere.

Whichever you choose, sit back, relax and let Richard Taylor Travel take care of the driving while you enjoy a refreshing day beside the Kent coast.
