The Farmer’s Dog & Burford – A Cotswolds Day Out
Enjoy a wonderfully varied day in the Cotswolds combining a visit to Jeremy Clarkson’s The Farmer’s Dog with free time to explore the beautiful historic town of Burford.
Our first stop is The Farmer’s Dog at Asthall, Jeremy Clarkson’s Cotswolds pub and a destination that viewers of Clarkson’s Farm will instantly recognise. Created with a strong focus on supporting British farmers and producers, The Farmer’s Dog has become an attraction in its own right and offers plenty to discover beyond the traditional country pub.
During our visit, you’ll have time to explore the site at your leisure. Browse the Diddly Squat Farm Shop, where you can pick up produce and gifts associated with Jeremy’s famous Oxfordshire farm, or visit Hops & Chops, offering British-reared and farmed meat alongside Hawkstone products to take home. There’s also The Farmer’s Puppy, the site’s relaxed tented bar and kitchen, offering another opportunity to enjoy something to eat or drink.
The emphasis throughout is firmly on British farming, with The Farmer’s Dog stating that its food and drink are made using British-farmed ingredients wherever possible. And while Jeremy himself does occasionally visit, his appearances are completely unscheduled, so unfortunately, we can’t promise you’ll spot him!
After our visit, we’ll make the short journey to Burford, often described as the gateway to the Cotswolds and one of the region’s most attractive historic towns.
Burford’s famous High Street sweeps downhill through beautiful honey-coloured Cotswold stone buildings towards the River Windrush and its medieval bridge. You’ll have free time to explore at your own pace, perhaps browsing the town’s excellent selection of independent shops, antique dealers, galleries and boutiques or stopping for lunch, afternoon tea or a coffee in one of its traditional pubs and tearooms.
History lovers may wish to visit the impressive Church of St John the Baptist, with around 850 years of history, or discover Burford’s fascinating past at the small Tolsey Museum.
Combining one of the Cotswolds’ newest and most talked-about destinations with one of its most beautiful historic towns, The Farmer’s Dog & Burford makes for a fantastic day out with something a little different.
Please note: This excursion includes a visit to The Farmer’s Dog site and Burford. A sighting or appearance by Jeremy Clarkson
cannot be guaranteed.
