Trip Details
Step back almost 1,000 years and discover one of Britain's most famous and fascinating landmarks on this unforgettable day trip with Richard Taylor Travel.
Standing proudly on the banks of the River Thames, the Tower of London has played an extraordinary role in England's history. Founded by William the Conqueror in 1066, this iconic fortress has
served as a royal palace, prison, treasury, armoury, mint and even a royal zoo. Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of London's most visited attractions, offering an unforgettable journey through nearly a millennium of royal history.
Travelling in comfort by executive coach, you'll enjoy plenty of free time to explore this remarkable attraction at your own pace. Your admission ticket includes access to the Tower's most famous sights, allowing you to discover its rich history and fascinating stories.
One of the highlights of any visit is undoubtedly the Crown Jewels. Still used in royal ceremonies today, this dazzling collection includes St Edward's Crown, the Imperial State Crown, the Sovereign's Sceptre and many other priceless treasures that have symbolised the British monarchy for centuries.
Be sure to join one of the famous Yeoman Warder (Beefeater) Tours, where the Tower's legendary guardians entertain visitors with captivating stories of kings and queens, prisoners, daring escapes, executions and centuries of royal intrigue. Their unique blend of history and humour makes this one of the most popular experiences of the day.
Keep an eye out for the Tower's legendary ravens, whose presence has long been linked to the fate of the kingdom. According to ancient legend, if the ravens were ever to leave the Tower, both the fortress and the monarchy would fall.
Explore the magnificent White Tower, the oldest part of the fortress, where you'll find impressive displays of royal armour, weapons and historic artefacts, including the world-famous Line of Kings exhibition and the beautiful Chapel of St John. Wander through the recreated Medieval Palace, walk the ancient battlements and enjoy spectacular views across the River Thames towards Tower Bridge and the City of London.
History comes alive as you visit Tower Green, where Anne Boleyn, Catherine Howard and Lady Jane Grey met their tragic fate, and step inside the mysterious Bloody Tower, forever linked with the disappearance of the young Princes in the Tower. You'll also discover the exhibition exploring the Tower's darker history and its role as one of Britain's most infamous prisons.
When it's time to relax, the New Armouries Café offers a tempting selection of hot meals, soups, sandwiches, cakes and refreshments, while the seasonal Raven Café is perfect for a light snack or coffee. Alternatively, just outside the Tower you'll find a variety of restaurants and traditional pubs should you wish to enjoy lunch overlooking the historic surroundings.
There will also be time to browse the excellent gift shops, where you'll find souvenirs, books and unique gifts to remember your visit.
Whether you're fascinated by British history, captivated by tales of royalty and rebellion, or simply looking for a memorable day out in London, the Tower of London promises an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages.
